SAIF's Performance in the QS Rankings
On April 10th, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) unveiled its 2024 World University Rankings by Subject. The discipline of Accounting and Finance, represented by the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF), secured the 47th position globally (3rd in mainland China). This marks the 7th consecutive year that SAIF has been ranked among the top 50 institutions worldwide in this subject area.
Three additional disciplines co-constructed by SAIF—Statistics and Operations Research, Business and Management Studies, and Economics and Econometrics—achieved global rankings of 36th, 42nd, and 57th, respectively.
Ranking Methodology
The 2024 QS World University Rankings by Subject employ five indicators to evaluate institutions: Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Research Citations per Paper, H-index, and International Research Network. The latter indicator primarily reflects the sustainable research collaborations between higher education institutions.
China's Performance in the Rankings
In total, 101 universities from mainland China were listed across 54 disciplines, ranking third globally in terms of the total number of institutions represented, following only the United States and the United Kingdom. Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) demonstrated exceptional performance, with 11 disciplines earning a place among the top 50 globally, including 4 disciplines co-constructed by SAIF.
